An African AI company

Language
should bring us
closer.

Fluanci is building linguistic AI companions for the languages we speak and the way we actually talk.

First companion, Lerato, is in development. Not publicly available.

The question behind Fluanci

We don't speak in textbooks.

We code-switch. We use slang. We change our tone depending on who we're with. Language has a rhythm that translation alone can miss.

Why should that be a barrier between people, or between people and AI?

  • Our words

Everyday expressions and street language belong in the conversation.

  • Our switches

We move between languages naturally, sometimes in one sentence.

  • Our moments

A companion should know when to be gentle, playful or serious.

Our approach

A companion for each language, not one voice for everyone.

Our long-term approach is to build dedicated companions grounded in how each language is actually spoken.

  1. Start with the language.

Fluency in a base language comes first.

  2. Make room for the street.

Slang, code-switching and local ways of speaking matter.

  3. Give conversation some care.

Warm personas that follow your tone instead of forcing their own.

An approach we are developing, not a finished system.

Introducing our first companion

Meet Lerato.
A voice you can talk to.

Lerato means “love” in Sepedi and Sesotho. She's a gentle, warm companion designed to respond in the language you speak to her, without turning every conversation into a joke.

  • English
  • Sepedi
  • S'Pitori

An Android voice assistant prototype is in development. Planned phone-task support includes opening apps, checking messages, drafting emails and helping with food orders.

Our future vision · planned

More languages.
More companions.
More ways to learn.

We hope to build dedicated companions for more languages across South Africa and beyond. In the longer term, we want people to be able to learn anything in a language that feels like their own.
